Under the circumstances, that all sounds eminently sensible.
In my own case, I was installing new circuits anyway, so it was a simple matter to install two of them (and the routing was close to the consumer unit and very straightforward). In the circumstances you've described, I would also do what you're proposing because you already know things are adequate.
