I don't think it will. My soft red bricks are still crumbly after drying out. There are stone hardener fluids that penetrate into the surface which might be worth a Google. I've never tried the stuff - my crumbly bricks were occasional and inside so I just plastered over them. Another option would be stone repair mortar. If you plaster the repair mortar over the surface, finish by pressing a bag over to give a suitably uneven priofile, then chip out some mortar gaps and repoint to match the wall it might not be very noticeable.
