New for 2014 and classically Lincrusta, Passeri is inspired by French ornate cultivated gardens, incorporating songbirds and floral bouquets set within a classical ogee ornament. Design from
post and Pre 1900.

It's a period product indeed, but what do you think finances this website (and its free forum, that we all enjoy)? It's advertising. If commercial organisations are allowed to come along and advertise free of charge on the forum, then all sources of finance will dry up. Then no more PPUK.

Advertising on the forum is against the rules, as it should be.

So Please tell me why this is advertising, after my last episode, I was told not to give out contact details I have deliberately not added e mail telephone web address, contact details etc etc, this is just to show the new design.
I am on 23 discussion forums around the world and this one is the only one who says you are advertising etc and posting useless pictures of spam tins! so put your energy into something that is constructive, that will help people to understand period properties, this then will grow your membership.

Again I am not having a go just stating facts, being open, friendly, informative, instructional and helpful, will all aid new members and income.

I look forward to a healthy and open debate.

Regarding Lincrusta on ceilings, yes it has historically been applied to ceilings from as early as 1877, the products were Lincrusta, Cameiod and Lignomur, Passeri and or any of the designs look good.

Byzantine, Sophia, Elizabeth, Villa Louis, Italian, are superb on the ceiling.

Our adhesive has been specially formulated to apply Lincrusta to ceiling,s wall, doors, and furniture as well, even railway coaches, ships and palaces around the world

Reviewing Mr Lincrusta's previous posts, it seems he's not bashful in providing useful information on period decorative wallpapers. So, I for one welcome having his input on the forum. His recent post certainly opened my eyes to what's available commercially. Throw in 20% off for PPUK forum members and everyone's happy.

Why is it advertising?

Because your original post is clearly designed to interest people in the product which is your business.

If that isn't advertising, I don't know what is.

If you believe that the product and your business will be of interest to people on this forum, I suggest you pay the website organisers for an advertisement.

Well, there are kind and unkind ways of asking folks to abide by the rules. This forum is littered with complaints about the overly-officious beaurocracy and red tape of planners, COs etc. And, right here we're wielding the clipboard with a genuine poster.

I think the wallpaper looks lovely and welcome the 30% discount offered.

He may contribute in other ways, so do we all, but a post designed purely to inform about a new product should not be permitted.

I suspect your browser is blocking 'pop-up' adverts, which is not something that is used on PPUK.

We may all have our own opinions about advertising within the discussion forum but the fact is that this highly valuable resource is freely provided by the website owners and we are their guests. As such, it seems only polite to abide by their rules and requests.

I guess my point is that we needn't be so....brusk....with someone who's clearly a forum contributor. Auto generated SPAM, yes. Trolls that loiter to annoy us all definitely. But, here I'm guessing we have a chap who's trying to put bread on the table like many of us are. Based on past posts, Mr Lincrusta seems sincere and knowledgeable. That surely invites us to be less 'officious' in our response.

I'd like to put my two pence in here.
Andy was extremely helpful to us when we were trying to figure out exactly what it was we had (forgive the pun) plastered all over our house when we were purchasing it; we had previously never heard of Lincrusta and it was thanks to this forum and google hitting some of Andy's posts here that we were able to contact him and send photos for identification.
I in particular was very disheartened when I found that the ornate "plaster" as described by the estate agents was very thin and hollow, and thought it was a modern facsimili.
Andy was able to tell us that the Lincrusta and Cameoid work we have is likely to be original and should be treasured for what it is - a wonderful period feature. He went out of his way to find historical records of the designs with no financial incentive to do so whatsoever.
A lot of the lincrusta tooling had to be melted down to make war equipment, so a new design based on older patterns is noteworthy. Based on our contact with Andy to date he is enthusiastic about his product, past and present and as he's posted has done his best to remove direct details. Equating the post to spam is pretty harsh in my opinion.
