Lighting help

Hi,
Looking for some help finding some half respectable lights. Prior to Christmas we're doing a quick refurb of our acid green dining room , which comes with four single spotlights mounted one in each corner. Thanks, PO!
It's a highly ornate lincrusta ceiling (thankfully not acid green!) and as part of this quick refurb all I can afford to do time wise is replace like for like. It's quite delicate and I daren't risk adding a central fitting until it's been stabilised properly. We are pretty much only changing the paint colour and hopefully sorting these light out somewhat.
The current lights are full size fittings, in white plastic and metal, quite awful especially since half of them have broken at the plastic joint.
Anyway, I am loooking for a fairly drop in replacement and would like to keep the bulb size as I have lifx bulbs in them which arent cheap to replace. (The bulbs are also quite long, for what it's worth, so I don't think an armoured type fitting will work).
As you might expect it seems the world has moved on since these were fitted, and most spots appear to be gu10 size.
Any suggestions for single spots using a full size bayonet (b22) or screw (e27) would be most welcome!

Ahh, a quick refresh. I did that in our sitting room at our previous house. Only took three months.

The spotlights left here by PO were a priority to get rid of, says he ungrammatically. Spotlights have no place in the Period house, imho. Those that were still servicable went into the garage.
I would fit four pendants, with porcelain roses, silk twist flex, and brown Bakelite B22 holders, and look for Period shades on eBay. As they are in four corners they need not be the same, which makes it easier. Finding four that match could be tricky.
Then you could use LED bulbs like these, which have a proper light pattern with no solid base .

If you have no time before Xmas, perhaps paint the existing lights with cream gloss, the plastic and the metal.

Thanks Ivor, I know too well how things can stretch out, hence being really strict on not doing too much!

Pendants won't work sadly, the spots are only about an inch or two shy of each wall. They do serve a purpose at the moment, as they really emphasise the ceiling (they are almost horizontal)

which could do the trick. The price is a bit steep - more than the rest of the refurb for 4 lights. They look like they could be ceiling mounted and tightened enough to take the weight of the LIFX bulbs.
Anything similar out there?
Just to reiterate, I am trying to retain the smart bulbs we currently have, hence the restriction on using a large bulb size.

Hi I can give a thumbs up to those artifact lights, we have that exact model in our living room as a wall mounted task/reading light. Not cheap but I was impressed by the quality. Good luck with your refurb.

Probably not a possibility given the lincrusta, but I thought it was an interesting concept given the location issues you describe.

Nifty. Yes. Absolutely. A joist finder to locate, errm a joist. Just a simple hook with a loop of silk twist.

Letting the bulbs dictate the fittings and the aesthetics .... cart... horse...

I'm kind of with Ivor - should your existing bulbs dictate & heavily restrict your choice of fitting? I appreciate they were pricey but LED bulbs from companies such as LEDhut are very good now and are not expensive.

Broughtons are well worth a look - not the cheapest but a big range and good quality.

Lifx bulbs are rather cleverer than just a standard LED bulb. The scheduling options and colour range make them something a little bit special. I can understand why kreyszig would want to continue using them.

I confess I'd never heard of them and have just Googled them. Wi-Fi enabled bulbs you can control from a smartphone or Apple Siri voice control thingy - yee Gods, Black Magic, that's well beyond me! I only got rid of my ancient Nokia non-smartphone recently as my network stopped supporting 2G phones, the scoundrels... :wink:

A switch is within my technological grasp! Luddite, moi?

Yeah they're not standard LEDS!
Miles better than Philips hue btw, 1000 lumens max from 11w. Although they are housed in spotlight fittings, the light is not very directional. Most of the time they are on a very soft warm white, gives a very cosy feel to the room.
It would just be nice if they weren't in fittings that are so awfu!

I've just installed and recommend (as does a very experienced sparky I know) Halers Spots, I've gone for the H4 Pro.

While they're more expensive than most they are really, really easy to fit (all in one unit), have a big old guarantee period and are pretty inconspicuous especially in matt white. Build quality seems top notch. You can choose beam width and light temperature.

The reason I went for the H4 Pro is they can also be angled.

I just bought a couple of these (may be completely inappropriate for you?). They were down to £14 on 'Black Friday' which meant I could easily justify buying round some oak patresses (http://www.periodpattresses.com/epa...sses/Reduced_Price_112mm_Round_Oak_Pattresses) to replace the bases. With a filament style LED lamp they're going to be a perfect 'temporary' fix...
