Lead Water Pipe

When Anglia Water phoned me, they said they would wait until I was ready to change my pipework and do their bit at the same time. Actually, I got the impression that if I didn't do my bit, they were not going to bother with theirs either.

That's right.
Anglia Water offer replacement of their lead pipes as a free service as long as you replace yours as well. I haven't heard of them just replacing their pipe without the customer already having replaced theirs.

I would double check with them about just poking the pipe down the same hole. Our new pipe had be run deeper than the original because of newer regulation about the required depth of the pipe.

It was bought home to me how regulations have changed when I discovered the gas main to the house only 2 inches below the ground :shock:

I will check - do you know how far down it has to be? I dug down about half a metre under the foor to find where the lead pipe went under the wall, so I'm not sure if this is would be deep enough. Anyway, they said they would write to me with more details.
