Probably won't be long before only 'accredited conservation professionals' will be allowed to work on listed buildings . . .

Only "accredited" architects are allowed to acts as architects on HLF and English Heritage funded projects.
Out of 27000 architects, only about 300 are on the "accredited" register. I'm not one of them and I don't intend to be. Some of those who are on, I wouldn't let within 100 miles of an old building, many of those who aren't on have years of experience and a great reputation.
