I think you'll find he's a member of a re-enactment society, like the Sealed Knot, here recreating a typical building site accident for a National Trust open day. Or it may be the opening scene of next week's episode of "Casualty" (despite first appearances, he actually swallows some lime and pokes his eye out with the trowel)

The Safety officer will be upset because his trousers are clearly far too large. Do you know I was under the impression that ridge ladders were designed to be climbed on, not just an obstruction to be worked around. I suppose working around an obstacle of this size would qualify this chap as a master roofer. Also pleased to see there is no carpet under the ladders, this way the chaps weight can be applied to a single slate so fracturing it, more work for the working class.

I thought that was what Kingspan was for - to put under your roofing ladders to protect the slates. I've got a few bits I've used for ages for just that. I gather some people put then under the slates - most odd!chuckey said:

There's nowt wrong with professional qualifications if you are actually in a profession, but we seem to be suffering a surfeit of spurious accreditation. For the record, I am not accredited and can claim no letters after my name. I do have hefty insurance, though. It's cheaper that way!

Well, if the one in the picture is accredited - it may be that soon that will be one fewer... although hopefully those who are accredited will be a spot more aware of H and S issues!
