The 5th slopes more but it was the 4th I was hoping to draw your attention to. There's a cross which may, or may not, be a tie bar.

The fourth and fifth crankles (or are they crinkles?) both look pretty unstable. But even an inherently stable structure is likely to develop a worried look if the ground beneath it shifts. I wonder whether this is due to the road level dropping over the long period since the wall's construction.

Surely either the footing was inadequate in the first place or it has subsided due to possibly the trees growing near and shrinking the subsoil by pulling all of the moisture, maybe an effect of the road somehow, without some site investigation we would not know.

One fairly certain bet, if it had been a straight wall I suspect we would either be looking at a rebuilt section or a chunk missing!
