A lovely ending to the story! I don't need to tell you, I'm sure, that the scale of the lampshade with relation to the lamp base is important. Recently I switched lampshades to get a colour match, but the shape and size being marginally different (smaller,narrower) from the original has not proved a happy alteration. Make sure you're satisfied with the proportion as well as the lampshade shape and fabric.

I have just had an e-mail from Anne at ajlampshades. c.£10 for a frame or £50.50 plus VAT for making a shade from my own fabric. The suppliers of the lamps had quoted either £200 or £300 (I forget which, I was so shellshocked) per shade for making one to my spec.

Not much contest really - thanks for the great tip. I won't say that now means I can afford to buy some books I dont need!

Anne i seem to recall did a few lampshades for me a couple of years ago for a client i had in cheshire... I have all sorts of contacts in the back of beyond that suddenly come back to mind .. Glad you have that sorted and at a fraction of the price hey... go on treat yourself to a nice book or dare i say...... something to hang on your lovely walls??? :lol: :lol:

If you did the actually make the frames as well as the shades ... you can have them made to your exact specifications and dimensions if needs be.

I am full of information... mainly useless granted but i do have it just the same and occasionally... i have a few golden nuggets too hehe :lol: :lol: :lol:
