Also had a combi boiler fitted recently to replace the old vented CH heating system. Had installed a new loft hatch a few years back to replace the draughty wooden one )noy as pretty, but retaining heat overrides aesthetics). Unintended consequence of the loft hatch meant the old header tank wouldn't fit through the hole. With all the water drained out, a sabre saw on the tank fixed that minor issue.I have a cold tank in my loft too but it’s disconnected because we had a new combi boiler put in. They didn’t remove the cold water tank because it was too big to fit through the hatch.
Can anyone recommend how I can also keep the insulation in place that will cover the hatch please?
One word of caution if anyone decides to cut up old tanks - Some were made with asbestos containing materials and shouldn't be cut up in situ.
