This is one I bought some years ago from a local supplier, substantially made originally in bare pine but has since been painted. Being free standing, I’ve been able to re-site it into the new kitchen and re-connect quite easily (Still have the rest of the worktop and cupboards to finish) I understand that he still sells them like this or with cupboards built in below for under £1000

These guys are pretty good and i have used them for clients ...there are also lots of good solid wood freestanding cupboards etc available direct from manufactures on ebay who will often finish to your own spec and are reasonably priced...Hope this helps a little in your quest .. our kitchens are very personal spaces and need to reflect our personalities. I think Rob wants his kitchen to be free standing, but it's a great idea to re-use "pre-loved" fitted kitchens.

I'd also want free standing; I think they're much better for a damp environment and it's easier to retrieve all the little presents the cat brings in.

Oh god!! Ilona hall thats so funny! all of the preloved kitchens change from week to week.. very often there are bespoke freestanding kitchens ont here too.. its just a matter of keeping an eye on the website.
If anyone is interested in Laura Ashley etc there is a company that buys their overstock and you can buy products at less than half price.

i have only been missing because i have been back breakingly stripping all of the horrible vinyl silk paint that some lovely person left me on my lime plastered walls...
Progress so far... Oscars bedroom is completely finished..Leahs room almost there but boy is it tedious stripping back paintwork to the wood but ever so rewarding when its done and you see the fruits of your labour.
We too will be opting for a free standing ktchen.. I am lucky to have a carpenter in the family and have already got two reclaimed sinks in the store room ready for action.
Boy this is fun... i loved doing other peoples house but having something i an really get my teeth into of my own is something else.. I have truly been bitten by the bug!

Glad to hear you haven't been slacking Ilona. And some very interesting links there- thanks, definitely worth keeping an eye on "the used kitchen company", though my own kitchen work (which will chiefly involve reinstating what was there 50 years ago and which is now strewn around various sheds, plus putting back a fire), is scheduled to take place in 2022.

Another thought is you could build the carcasses yourself and buy the doors ready made like.... this for example to save you time...
