At least get your first fix plumbing and electrics done before you move in then plumb in temporary fittings, make sure you have hot water and somewhere nice to prepare and eat food.
It really is no fun living on a building site unless you can make it comfortable.
Do you have room for a static? In hindsight this is the first thing I should have done. And remember if doing it room by room , one room can knock onto the next so room by room doesnt really work , for instance plumbing will disrupt every room with a sink , bath, radiator or where pipework passes through. And the living room ceiling might be the bedroom floor, well it is here anyway.

And I'm with robgil too. If you can do no more then get the 1st fix done while your out of house.

I sincerely wish we'd boxed everything up and moved out at least for the parts of our project when we were working in the renovated extension AND the main house at the same time. You end up moving all your stuff over and over again anyway, everything gets and stays filthy for months and having to clear a room to work in it slows down everybody.
When the electricians were fitting thermostats for the heating they had to work in every room - which meant there was no safe haven.

Yes please!! I'm in St Albans, and my sister lives in Cambridge. That's not too far for me at all. Drop me a line when you've got it out, and if I'm still looking for one I'll come and collect, if I can get it all on my van! (As long as bath is plastic, I can't shift a metal one by myself!!) Don't know that I'll need a bidet though!

I agree with the concept "Do it right the first time" where possible. However, sometimes one thing depends on another, fitting the actual bathroom won't be done until the new flat roof gets put on, which depends on planning permission for the new kitchen, and also I might dig up the entire floor in the bathroom.... First fix plumbing depends on having the walls built for it to go on, etc. If I waited to have those in place I might as well wait for the project to be finished.
I do take on board AMc's comments about moving your stuff a million times and everything getting filthy, I know what a pain that is.. I suppose I could always come back to parent's house when the major works are being done...
