As you are turning your "wreck" into a house then you need self build insurance.
This will cover your building while you work on it and some of the things in it while you work from accident and theft.
I took out a policy which covered reinstatement all the way to completion should a disaster happen.
Anyone doing significant work - electricians, plumbers, builders - should have their own cover for their own risks and their work for you.
My policy also had accident and life cover for me as I was working on the project hands on and employer liability so any casual labour was covered.
There was also public liability insurance should something fall off and hurt someone or one of my direct employed labourers cause injury to a passer by.
At the end of the renovation the policy converts to buildings insurance and you can then get real buildings and contents policies.

Google will also supply a number of reputable brokers.
You will find ads in the home building and renovation magazines too.
Get at least 3 quotes and check the cover carefully. If you find you have taken a policy that doesn't cover your loss the best you'll get is the cost of the policy back not the value of a claim if you've accepted terms that don't work in your situation.
