I have a room with an elm floor. The elm came from a tree which a farmer was about to burn which a friend kindly planked and planed for me. Most of it was without any signs of worms but a few boards we used did have holes. I painted the boards with some sort of insecticide before laying them but the other day I picked up a rag and found three little beetles - one dead, one alive and another thrashing about on its back. I treated the boards several months ago - does it take this long to act - or does it onlt affect the beetles when they emerge in spring?
The room is centrally heated and the timber is all dry. Should I be worried (I am anyway). Should I lift the boards and treat them again? Thanks for any help.
