Our county records office also has a copy of the 1910 Finance Act map and tithe maps Inclosure awards, railway maps, manorial maps, OS maps, and records etc etc...

It's worth spending time with the archivist discussing what you are looking for as they know what holdings they have and are in my experience verey delighted to help.

Some diligent searching though the indexes brings quite a lot of interesting info also.

So how do you do that? Just wander in off the street - or do you make an appointment?

You can do either... actually the archivist poss requires an appointment - but the other staff are very good in my experience.
