Very much down to personal taste. Ours was "The Birches" - that is what is on the original deeds, long before it became No. 61. The previous owners had the name
on a small, quite discrete stamped brass plaque on the (now gone) gate - the plaque being of the very aged brass look rather than polished shiny brass. I may well transfer it to one of the new gates, it seems a shame to let the original name lapse.

Our house was owned by the brewery that used to be behind us. In the 1930's the brewery owner built a pair of semi-detached houses for his sons at one end of the brewery yard - just to prove that bad taste is nothing new, he called the houses "Grahamville" and "Ronaldyne". Not surprisingly those names are no longer used!

Ohh, that's easy if you've got an iPhone - you know you can get those apps that compare prices if you scan the item's barcode with your iPhone? Should be easy with a Zebra. In fact you could scan a whole herd and select the cheapest.

I can see a whole new opportunity here for Tesco - ready barcoded meat for you to take out through their self-service tills, no carrier bags or trollies required either.

What is all this talk of scanning zebras and ...... EATING zebras?! I'm feeling rather alarmed, I don't mind telling you.

......because it only rains cold water and when it does the sheep don't mind. Shrinking wool is best with hot water and agitation.

Regarding the naming of houses, mine was called The Dolls House when I bought it, although there's no sign to say so, and I'm sorry, I'm not having it called that! It is quite small, and was also painted pink throughout. No evidence of doll occupation.

Ours used to be called Shropham Villa...but was renamed Shropham House at some point in the 1930's. Shame....I quite like the idea of a sunny Roman villa

I can see only two small problems with that idea, Pford. "Sunny" and "Roman"! :wink:
