No. The the one pane that opens is in the iron-work the orther 14 fixed panes are glazed into the wooden part.

The house is not at all private and the first to name it will get a point.

I can't be certain but I doubt whether this house has seen any cement or waterproof paint. It seems to be in safe hands.

I feel sure I've seen it. If you hadn't implied it was right under Helvellyn and once a pub I might have suggested a back room in Rydal Hall, or possibly Rydal Mount, though I don't think that is so closely set into the hillside. Current pubs can be ruled out, as you said it WAS a pub before 1799.
Round the other side of Helvellyn, Glenridding is a likely area, and Helvellyn Youth Hostel looks the right period, once part of the lead mine buildings. However, the YHA has usually converted places with much less sensitivity and makes a liberal use of cement and waterproof paint, so I give up.

It was called The Dove and Olive Branch (not to be confused with a pub in Grasmere that has recentlly adopted the name) before Dorothy and William Wordsworth took the lease in 1799.

I seem to remember when the Wordsworth Trust were doing restoration work, there was much interest in the local press about their use of cow-muck in the plaster.
