Help please with window locks

What a useful site this is!
Our son's new iPhone was stolen in Turkey. He immediately went to the police but couldn't get any joy there because their interpreter wasn't on duty that day.
His insurance company (to whom he had been paying not inconsiderable premiums) rejected the claim because he hadn't complied with the condition in the small-print that a police number should be obtained on the day the loss occurred.

Thanks to the link to the FOS he will be able to start the process of harrassing the insurance company as soon as he returns to the UK this week and I'll be able to get my own (old - his cast-off) iPhone back from him.

Lynda, yes we're with them, althought the Listed Property Elite schedule comes from Lark Insurance. They're good on the phone, and when corresponding by email; I have not *touch wood* had to make a claim to find out how good their service really is.

Moo - Before going to the FOS, it is important that your son has exhausted the complaints procedure with the insurer. He should make it clear to them that he intends to refer to the FOS in the event that they do not handle his complaint to his satisfaction. Each FOS referral costs the insurers a fee (which may be very close to the cost of an iPhone).

Travel insurance is (IMO) a complete rip-off. Most insurers will try to wriggle out of any reason to cough up...and in the event that they do, the hassle involved often outweighs the benefits of cover.
