I don't think we have any severe problems with this as Chris is quite good about cleaning out the leaves fom the gutters regularly (access is very easy as cottage is sunk into the hill appearing single storey) , but I'll go out there next time it's raining hard. I probably won't have to wait too long!

It's time for FF to start thinking out another self-deprecating response. If you look back at Page 5 of this thread you'll see his house, to which I very cheekily invited myself and visited yesterday. (apologies to kirstickle if you're reading as it was your thread but it seemed tidy to post this here)

I really am humbled by what I saw and vow never ever to complain or witter on about curtains again. The house is so enormous, and needs so much, most people would have balked at it. But FF is approaching the project with really exemplary patience and skill, not setting unrealistic targets and prioritising its welfare by making it watertight and stable. It seems unfair that such an important project doesn't get government funding to me - there's a huge difference between a rock star buying a millionaire's mansion and putting in a swimming pool, for example, and somebody taking on an important, though broken, building and putting it back together so that it can survive some more hundreds of years.

Thank you so much for showing me round Flyfisher, it's a beautiful place and worthy of your life's work. (I'm afraid FF doesn't have time to be Prime Minister, though he'd be very good at that too).

Oh, I couldn't possibly do all you lovely Norfolk people and your houses in a day! You have to be spread out, like Christmas and birthdays. And, that was the longest drive I've done on my own - any more finding of places without a man and my head would have exploded!
