A pleasant surprise for a change - we have just lifted the carpet in our sitting room to find a rather nice bit of oak parquet. It needs a bit of tlc around the edges (rot from the damp) and a very light sanding(?) to remove an old varnish. Unfortunately as a wall has been removed at some point to make the room bigger, I will have to lay some new oak at one end (about 14'x7'). When this is done I will do the whole floor (new and old) with the same finish - but what would be best - wax, danish oil?
