I'd rather see wind farms and save the earth, than not have wind farms and goodbye all.
Personally I don't see them as unattractive, speaking as a visitor to the areas where they get sited, so it wouldn't put me off visiting.

It's really a case of beauty (or ugliness) being in the eye of the beholder, isn't it? I, too, think that wind farms can be rather beautiful; they certainly change the landscape, but not in the same way as a nuclear power station would.

And if one applies ljn's argument about the long-term problems with nuclear disposal to wind farms, I think the latter are the lesser of the two evils.

Edge of WH Sites and in noted beauty spots isn't my idea of sensitive siting.

Of course not - it would be well away from your own back yard. Speaking for myself, I'd have no objection to them in or around Norwich. Given the choice between a windfarm or two and a power station, I'd hazard a guess that most of the locals would feel the same.

I've been sitting on the beach today watching an amazing ship. It jacks itself up on six legs, lifting itself right out of the water, and then behaves as a pile driver. It's building platforms for serious wind turbine a couple of miles offshore.

Yes - interesting that they have found somewhere else to put them.

And actually Moo these are not in my backyard, although in my county. I think that there are places where they could be more sensitively sited.

There is to be a public inquiry into the first three applications.

There are other applications in the pipeline.
