Government officials have secretly briefed ministers that Britain has no hope of getting remotely near the new European Union renewable energy target that Tony Blair signed up to in the spring - and have suggested that they find ways of wriggling out of it.
The EU target is 20% renewables by 2020, The UK will struggle to meet 9%.
Other European countries seem to very well. Germany, which hopes to achieve a 27% has developed an economy around green issues- try to build a "green" house and you'll probably be importing knowledge and maaterials from Germany.
