And I am glad you have been using your time off to such good value. Your porch looks lovely you should be very proud of it

We too (thats the royal we in my case) are building an oak porch too but ours is not nearly so technically demanding as yours. It is a rebuil^Z^Z^Z^Z renovation of an arts and crafts porch which I have LBC to move from the back door to the front. Pictures to follow when tiles are up and scaffold is down

This is a superb thread.
Thankyou for taking the trouble.

Your lead lights - they are not as easy to break as sometimes thought. And you could incorporate a saddle bar. I'm sure there is no need to back them up with sealed units, it spoils the twinkly reflection.

The fillet detail at the roof/wall junction - the usual problem with a fillet is that when there is movement, and there is always movement, eventually it adheres to the tiles and comes away from the wall. Is there a magic way to prevent this?

Well, my stab at that Ivor is to do it of the same material as the render and whilst the render is still green (and scratched). There inevitably has to be some movement here as the building under the roof is made of unseasoned timber, so I fully expect to be up there in due course repointing this. This is the reason I put lead soakers in place behind.....belt and braces, as I said.

Nice idea with a saddle bar. I'll give it a think. An arm could still reach around to the door lock, though, even with a saddle bar.
