Oh, that fireplace! A bit of brutal, Changing-Rooms-style modernism that dominated (and wrecked) the room.
And wasn't it heartbreaking to see yet another layer of emulsion obliterating yet more of the cornice detail?
Wasn't too bad! I thought that the installation of storage cupboards in the entrance hall was quite imaginative--always hard to do a fairly narrow hallway and make it functional as well. I liked the wall colours in the hall.
The Teenage bedroom was whacky, and they did not do anything irreversible!
All in all I thought the best was done in the circumstances but raised my eyebrows at one of the blue colours.
Both, and indeed some of the other Designers had some very good ideas, if not always entirely suitable!
What was really depressing was the house the young man had to tackle. Some previous owner had stripped out every original feature so thoroughly that the rooms we saw could have been in one of the lower-end dwellings one sees in Homes under The Hammer. So full marks to him for putting a bit of period feel back.
