The (presumably fake) malware warning popped up when I opened ppuk a few minutes ago.
Yes.Simon Wright said:I noticed the malware yesterday. My Norton 360 detected it.
I have removed the thread "Midges" which I have reason to believe may have held the source of the problem.
My Norton 360 has not notified me of the presence of the malware since.
91.188.60.234 is a computer in Latvia. It is very likely to a computer serving up malware.biffvernon said:The (presumably fake) malware warning popped up when I opened ppuk a few minutes ago.
It seems associated with a popup called Java Virtual Machine Launcher that gives the message: "Unable to access jarfile \\91.188.60.234public\photo1.jpg"
What's that about?
To put things into perspective ,the same could be said of more than half of the new members that come up on the final page.I don't want to be paranoic, but the two most recent members have yet to post anything, and have given no information about themselves ....

He is getting old (just like the rest of us) so you have to give him a bit of slack if he starts repeating himself...Moo said:* Look at what's suddenly happened to Biff!

I haven't seen any warnings either. I run Windows 7 and Norton Internet Security Suite. I've checked its activity history, and during the past week there's been nothing that's got it excited in any way. I wonder whether this is anything to do with the fact that I'm currently on a non-UK IP address.Flyfisher said:I'm still running XP on all but one of my PCs with Firefox on all of them. I didn't see any malware warnings when accessing PPUK and everything seems to be working fine here. I'm using Avira AntiVir and Spybot - both freeware and highly recommended.

Ouch. That's a bit worrying. I've known lots of people who successfully use AVG and it seems to get good reviews as well.Penners said:I used to run freeware security software (AVG) until it let me down once - rather badly.
