Now let me see..... when was it we were notified that Fastershire was bringing Fibre to our neck of the woods. Hmmm, well in April last year I was being brought home after a visit to a 'local' hospital when and found that the road to my home was blocked 200 yards down the lane by several Openreach vehicles whose crews were busily installing cables. They very kindly moved out of the way so I could get home but curtailed their activities an hour or so later.

The still haven't been back to lay the remaining 150 yards of Fibre and install the POT! Oh, and I've just remembered.... the original notification this was all going to happen was more than FOUR YEARS ago!

Im impressed by the fact you have managed to shake down the apple tree and dam the amazon river by preventing proper connectivity for so long. you must have done something very clever when you interrupted their activities; and smarter still to be able to cover your tracks and masquerade as a victim. excellent work!

It's been a poor season for apples across the country sadly and theres never a shortage of white vans around here. I can't claim much in the way of responsibility/culpability for either and my entreaties to hasten the glacially slow Fibre roll out around have all been met with deaf ears.

On a purely personal scale the First Lady and I have managed quite admirably to frequently work from home with the, some would say, measly 10Mb service limit we typically 'enjoy'. Any 'assumed victimhood' therefore is improperly inferred except perhaps for our mutual distaste for over-promising and under-achieving.

It's a fair cop Guv, guilty as charged. I am indeed the practicing member of that illustrious and often misunderstood society whose comments came to your notice at some point. I've never fathomed why, but on occasion some posts, and even entire threads, will disappear from these pages without apparent reason or explanation - but that's not my doing - honest.

No offence taken. Nuance, and therefore intent, can so often be lost in these brief exchanges. On this occasion my previous reply was intended as a mere, as you aptly put it, 'tongue in cheek' clarification and rejoinder rather than an admonition. Apologies; long ago in my very first staff appraisal the adjective 'brusque' was used to describe the nature of some of my verbal contributions and - despite best and ongoing efforts since (again, honest Guv), I repeatedly fail to change that perception.

Please don't mind me, these days I'm aiming for 'crusty, curmudgeonly old duffer' rather than 'bumbling' as the First Lady often claims.

Posts disappear because they go rotten and fall over, with threads it’s usually because you caught the jumper on something and pulled it out
