Front path, coal hole cover and yorkstone (with pics)

How about drilling four equally spaced holes in the rim,pushing two bits of reinforcing rod through to form a cross and then fill it with concrete(oh sorry!) and then trimming the surplus rod with an angle grinder when set.phil (always a bodger!)

I was thinking something similar.

It's quite nice the way the light shines through the holes, so I had considered filling it with a thick sheet of clear perspex.

Think I'll be going with getting it repaired though

Since I hate it when threads aren't finished properly, I thought I'd post an update.

I contemplated just getting a replacement coal hole cover, but they're as scarce as hen's teeth. It's also somewhat nicer to keep everything original, so we had the cover repaired. Looks pretty good I think. They managed to keep most of the detail

The paint came off the stone in the end. A very messy process involving several applications of stripper and lots and lots of water.

That would be some sort of gas fusion welding.

It was quite expensive, but not really anymore than a salvaged one.
