Increased rainfall over the Arctic and ice melt is resulting in less salty water in the Arctic Ocean. This is raising concerns over Atlantic Ocean currents that could cause temperatures to plunge cross Europe.
Pacific phytoplankton are now absorbing 2.5 billion tonnes less CO2 each year than previously thought.
