I'm planning to move the domain name to a new host this weekend. It's the sort of thing that goes completely seamlessly and nobody should even notice. But worth a mention as if it did go wrong it would result in a couple of days downtime. Hopefully it will speed up page loading.

The domain move is complete and seems to have gone well. Hopefully page loading speed will improve once the change propagates across the internet.

Edit> I've fixed the page speed. It was the database connection. Oops.

Thanks for taking this on Malcolm. I was having problems resetting my password (though not really an issue as I've spent about 15 years just hanging around in the space rather than contributing). But suddenly resolved today with no need to adopt another persona after all .

I've only just got the emails working after the move - that'll be why the password reset didn't work. Sorry.

On the subject of emails I noticed the email settings had defaulted to everyone getting an email notification every time someone replied to their post. That would be annoying for most people so I've changed the default to only send email notifications when a private message arrives. You'll still get mails for posts from last week before that change was made. At the top of the thread there is an 'unwatch' button that will fix that.

you have made an important and valuable contribution to the field that may or may not not arguably have been more helpful, accessible and thus important to the average person than the efforts of an organisation like SPAB.

on behalf of many customers and enquirers thank you for your imagination, time and effort, i think it has been very valuable to a lot of people.
