To the moderators and for consideration, comment and perhaps addition to the rules.
Many of us participate here to help others where we can and, in so doing, share hard-won knowledge and experience so that others can avoid the 'hard' lesson approach. However, from time to time we may offer advice that, wittingly or unwittingly, could be regarded as potentially dangerous. Sadly the world is becoming more and more litigious and I have, on occasion, found myself confining my suggestions to others on the basis of 'safe assumptions'. This behaviour is not new to me as for many years I operated as a business consultant and was aware that I, and my employers, were legally liable for the quality of any advice I may proffer.
I cannot recall seeing any disclaimer abrogating responsibility/culpability of the Period Property website and its officers for any advices or suggestions proffered by the participants. Nor am I aware of any guidance to members regarding this risk and perhaps advising them to ensure that they are mindful of the safety considerations when making suggestions to others.
I recognise that the participants are not employees of the site and that consequently there may be no direct legal liability but feel that this matter would bear closer scrutiny. Thoughts and/or references?
