Nobody told me if it was to be collected, I thought all the debris including the log burner and flue pipes were in my back garden.It was not until my son visited that I knew there was more at the end of the street.I was told that I would receive a "follow up" visit from a member of the brigade the following day with advice on fire safety and "where we go from here" but there has been no further contact.As the debris that had been left partially blocked access to a substation my son and I collected it.It was only a guess that it was left for collection.The chimney contained a lot of rubbish as well as soot, broken paving slabs, bricks, roof tiles and several broken chimney pots.It is now clear, has been repointed, has had an inspection with a camera and fitted with a liner.We have had a decorator painting the kitchen for three days and hopes to finish tomorrow (I would have done this myself but was unable due to a broken leg)Flooring chosen and measured up and awaiting a quote (must get some more quotes) I have cleaned and repaired the kitchen units but my wife tells me they will not do and kitchen catalogs are starting to arrive!One day I will look back at this and smile (not).

As it is my left leg that`s bust I would try driving if I had an auto but sadly both cars are manual.

Our hospitals fracture clinic has many rather large signs up saying, "If you have plaster on, you are not insured to drive"
Although in this instance it isn't the case, others may want to check with their insurers before thinking they can drive an automatic with a left leg in plaster.
Taxis are a godsend!

Getting there! need the plaster off my leg,the logburner needs rebuilding and fitting,the wiring needs finishing,the kitchen units need doing,got this far by "throwing " money at it! Roll on the 13th to get the pot off!

Having been lucky enough to never been in plaster (I needed to be once as a fracture was mis-diagnosed, but that's another story....) I can only imagine how frustrating that is. You have my sympathy.

I never realised just how difficult it is to keep weight off my leg.Trying to get small jobs done is a problem, Bought batten led lamps to replace the fluorescents behind the bressumer from eBay, Placed a barstool behind the beam, just the right height, oh! the led fitting comes with a length of round flex moulded in but my staples are for flat twin and earth,I may have the correct staples in the workshop but I am banned from there and the keys are hidden,ask if screw/nail box could be checked for the correct staples and am told to "Get a sparky in" it`s Sunday and Wilco is open but it`s £10 each way by taxi so thats another job unfinished with the cable secured with blu tak (I know thats not in line with the seventeenth edition!).

From someone in the lighting industry, be very wary of LED battens off eBay with a bit of flex coming out and no earth. A lot aren't genuine class 2, and many have poor quality "own brand" drivers that get a bit melty...

The company I work for had to recall 3,500 units from customer sites, as the supplier in China had "upgraded" the design from the one we spec'd without informing us. Cue lots of returns with scorch marks on etc, customers reporting smells of burning, smoke etc.

Oops!, was cheap, they are installed now, they do have an earth,( well they have a green/yellow wire, don`t know if it is connected) I have terminated all the burned out cables in a junction box to connect to the new replacement cables so may put a small fuse in there to feed to these.

[attachment New(ish) kitchen now fitted,(I was happy with the old one!) leg out of plaster. Have now fitted liners to the other log burners, I should have been repainting the windows before winter but there are always other things to do, two big trees down in the garden so that kept me busy (but plenty of logs for the winter)

Good leg news. I broke a leg a couple of years ago, didn't know I'd done it, few jolly painful months.

Old kitchen, happy with good reason. It fitted the vibe of an old house.

It was SWMBO who wanted a new one,keep it quiet but most of this is the old one with a few extra base units with new doors and worktops, I`m just looking for a quiet life! (never had any real pain with the leg but still have a limp which I am told will go)
