Hi
My house is a basic 2-bed Victorian terrace. The front garden is currently completely paved, which apart from looking nasty has made the ground level higher than it should be by about 15 cm.
I plan to get rid of the paving and turn it back into a garden at the original ground level. Ideally I'd have flowerbeds against the front of the house (not raised, obviously!) but almost every front garden I see has a hard paved or gravel area against the house walls. Is there any reason for this other than ease of window cleaning?
Thanks
Liz
