Finish for new external Oak door

My own experiments with using linseed oils on exterior timbers have not been encouraging. However, recent exerience of using OSMO products internally has been excellent, and I would certainly see what is available in their range for your application. Sometimes you find a company whose products you instinctively trust, and this is one such case. I have been very impressed by the product information provided and by the ease of application and quality of finish.
Before you ask, I have no connection with OSMO, but in my work as a professional woodworker I have tried all sorts of wood finishes and these are among the best to date.
Has anybody else used OSMO products for exterior wood treatment? How did you get on?

As I understand it, the raw linseed oil is intended for use on softwoods as it stays sticky for longer which lends itself to soaking into the less dense fibres of the wood. I've just tried brushing boiled linseed on a spare bit of oak just to see if would be suitable for our window lintels, (which some *rse painted with a thick black gloop and I'm planning to use poultice stripper on if I ever get the time) and it seems to have gone off ok and leaves a slightly darkened matt finish - and brings the grain up lovely.

Ushy - the only thing to beware of is that the oil may not behave on your stripped window sills in exactly the same way that it does on a piece of unfinished oak.

When you strip the paint off the sills, some of its sealing effect may remain within the surface of the wood, so the oil may not soak in quite as well as it did on your test.

I'm not discouraging you from using it - just highlighting a possible slightly different behaviour.
