and for completeness, the inside of the room originally shown in the first page of this thread now looks like this. The window was replaced with a double sash, the stone wall lime plastered but we kept the exposed stone either side of the chimney. Wasn't like that originally, but it is now

Is that a real seagull, or a sat dish in disguise?
Interior, jolly good. Bit of stonework, not too much. Yes, super floor.
I'd be looking for a decent tall fire surround to provide a visual balance to the big windows.

Thanks, yes we and the neighbours are delighted with the transformation. Hopefully we have started a trend in putting sash windows back in the street, now people can see how elegant they look - and maybe some bolder colour choices !
We are not sure re a fire surround - we took the one that was in that front room (not original to the house) and put it in the back room. Current plan is to see how it feels when we live in it and then go from there. It can always be put back, or something else added if needed
In answer to questions raised, the cable across the front is the way that power comes in - a slightly unusual arrangement where it is supplied from the pole to only a few houses and then daisy chained across the fronts...
The seagull is indeed a seagull, not a satellite dish in disguise 8) you may also notice that the chimney that it is sitting on is now straight having been rebuilt... The front was rendered in Lime and painted with Keim Royalan , the inside with Lime plaster and Earthborn claypaint - the end result being fully breathable - and still drying out in places where moisture had been trapped for years behind concrete on the front and plasterboard in the inside - but it is definitely still drying.
