My "Man Drawer" is now the size of a small terraced house, which I too have to squeeze into somehow. Michael MacIntyre doesn't know what he's talking about. London ways... :?

Ah, but you're a free man. Those of us who are obliged to live in an institution* have to comply with regulations, you see. We're allocated a drawer inside the house and (if we're lucky) a shed outside. The rest is holy ground. "Put off thy shoes from off thy feet, etc.".




*I refer, of course, to the institution of matrimony

I wouldn't mind a bit of mess, but Chris is the neatest and tidiest person in the whole world. When he suspects a document has become superflous, he photographs it, backs up his data, and throws the messy paper away. Woe betide if the correct clothes hangers are not where he wants them, or the hammer is replaced on the wrong part of the shelf. He has never lost anything or left a sock on the floor. Messages arrive all day long to chivvy me along with my allotted tasks, even though he's managing his team.

Furthermore, if anything has moved, or disappeared, or changed, he'll notice it the second he walks in - even if it's a small cobweb that has been spun in his absence. It's like being married to a very very very fastidious cat. Oh for a bit of absent minded chaos.

Alas, my guitars are safely stored for now - but I'm working on Mrs B to let me convert a wee ramshackle outbuilding into a recording studio. Chances of success? Slender.

Yes, I'm hankering after a more permanent studio arrangement as well. Perhaps you could try my approach and gradually take over the house before suggesting that a dedicated facility would be tidier. :wink:

As for 'muso', I hesitate to use such a term out of respect for real musicians, but we keep getting invited to play places - sometimes even the same places - so we must be half bearable. Next outing is a benefit concert for a community garden project. We're only the support though.

Not true at all. If you can stick three chords together and get a thrill out of it each and every time, you're a muso.

Truth is, my priorities changed when I became a dad. But I'm still hugely proud of some of the stuff I wrote - especially the track United Highs which ended up being used by Sky Sports and ITV (http://www.myspace.com/theglobeandall). Alas, I've all but stopped performing now.

And if I ever get any decent royalties (chance = naff all) I'll be converting that shed faster than Mrs B can say "pack your bags". She wants to put gardening equipment in the blasted thing.
