[Merlin]

Hello to all.

It has been a while since my last posting, so I hope you are all well.

Anyway, I can proudly say that Master Merlin safely entered the world on Sunday 26 September 2010 in the early hours of the morning. He weighed in at 9lb 7oz.

Initially he was kept in hospital for a few days with jaundice and then allowed home. However he was re-admitted to hospital with an infection and spent a few more days in on antibiotics, under observation, before being allowed to come home yesterday. Mrs M is doing a fantastic job, albeit being very tired having spent several nights with him in hospital.

Emotions have been high, sleep has been short, but we are making a little progress now. Fingers are crossed that the initial troubles are over and that we can now get him settled and start to enjoy our new family life.

Congratulations, hope the little lad thrives from now on and is soon being taught how to help dad with the DIY! and happy first birthday to other junior PPUK'er as well ( and same comment goes for helping with the DIY, I'm sure you realise from the girls here that we are not just about frills and shoes ).

The advice I would offer is ignore 95% of all the advice you're given!

The youngest of the Feltwell clan is not very well today, so we have a very grumpy 8 month old to deal with. God bless Calpol.......

Yes, congratulations Merlin, I hope you have a rewarding journey. FF junior has just gone off to university so we're in the process of adapting to empty-nest syndrome. Still, it should be quite easy after all the years of adapting to empty-bank-account syndrome.

Do not think that university is permanent,the empty nest is soon refilled three years later and do not think that the drain on finances is over either(our two lads are in their 30s and we still get expensive phone calls"dad what is the little red light on the dashboard that looks like an oil can for because its on all the time?") We bought our new "old" house leaving one son in our previous house! they do bring you grand kids though so all gets forgiven,What do you call folks with pics of kids in their wallets where they used to have money?"parents"! phil.

I hope you don't imagine that empty-nest syndrome replaces empty-bank-account syndrome?

I can tell you from personal experience that the two walk hand-in-hand for a good many years still to come. :wink:

Still, it's looking as if junior slipped into university just in time - assuming they don't back-date the likely-looking fee increases.

Many thanks for all your kind messages. He is the first Merlin Junior and I already have the trains in the cellar. Whether he will be allowed access to the cellar is another matter! Depends how he behaves. (Mrs M says that cellar is "man space" as I don't have a shed!)

Won't get him screwdrivers just yet, but a hammer yes. Another pair of hands in removing render will be very welcome, as I have the feeling that I will still be at that task in 15 years time.
