I never quite fathomed out how the steering geometry worked on that. I suspect there was an awful lot of tyre scrub.

Well Elf Tyrrell managed it in the mid 70s with the P34 http://www.flickr.com/photos/newforestdonkey/4756749081/ has a shot of it without bodywork.
I used to have a cutaway poster of it in the 70s on my bedroom wall as a nipper (wonder where that is these days?).

I can think of lots of things that are more fun to spend money on than tyres.

Back in the 60s I owned a Daimler V8 and it gave me terrific pleasure to find and fit extra wide tyres at the back.
When it snowed I'd boast about the tyre tracks to my girlfriends.

Just to go back on topic for a bit, will venting close to the thatch stain it? Edit , also , fire? is venting close to the roof a fire hazard?

The only pink fords I have seen were Ka's, both being driven by very large ladies, huge in fact , who looked as though they had been poured in through the sun roof.

Many years ago a girlfriend of a friend of mine had a bright pink Fiat X1/9 sports car - questionable taste, but she liked it. One day it broke down - which was a regular occurence - a few hundred yards from her work, so she phoned my friend and asked him to come out and meet the AA man. He rode out on his motorbike and sat in the car waiting for the AA man.

Said AA man fixed the car, then came out with the priceless line "Do you always wear your leather trousers in your pink car sir?"
