Exterior ground levels - and pavement issues

In my (limited) experience, ive found having the ground lower by at least a couple of inches was enough to remove visible dampness inside.

Thank you very much Roger, I’m hoping that I’ve got to the correct level. The cement render will also be removed in future (and replaced with lime) so I hope the combination will do the job and return the house to functioning as it was designed to : )

Mine still has render outside, stopping 3 bricks from the ground. Its a mix pf lime, and cement patching painted with modern paint.

Stripping the gypsum inside, and repointing the 3 brick courses in lime, its now completely dry, even with painted render still in place.
