Have we really ever welcomed the French Penners?

I also thought this a one way trade really, do you think they will flock in large numbers to visit?

And it works the other way. I have a relative who lives in Cardiff and works in Paris. I have a friend who lives in Bath and works in Paris.

Some french students that I met recently were complaining about Cambridge.
"We could not see very much because there were too many tourists" and "The Japanese fill it up", they said.

They had a high opinion of this country, England being described as "it is enterprising".
The recycling facilities impressed them too, "You are much advanced" one said.

They all used Eurostar.

Yes - a widely held view in France. Hence the influx of young French professionals to work in London.

Monsieur Sarkozy is said to want to reverse this westward brain-drain, and boost incentives for entrepreneurs* in France.
