Frank - you have a point, but are you sure that it isn't just sprockets causing that curvature?
Please do.kaz said:I'll give some feedback once I know more.
Back to maths school for you. Y=X^2 is a parabolic curve (which is the knicker elastic curve). An exponential curve is Y=e^X where e = 2.7182818 (approx). Petrol going up at 10% per month is an example of an exponential curve.chuckey said:Penners, an exponential curve is the shape, erm, a bit of old knicker elastic makes when its strung between two nails . Its a plot of Y =X^2

Actually Flyfisher is correct. Non stretchy knicker elastic would be a catenary curve - though this is very close to a parabolic it isn't the same.chuckey said:Gawd!, how embarassing , long time since I did any proper maths, sorry, Its my age you know.

No, it was never 'better'. It's silly and unattractive and showey-offey. I used to drive past it regularly on the A1, and I always thought it just looked like an annoyed nun.Nemesis said:Sam Scorer - very innovative roof structure, but was much better when a humble filling station.
