Absolutely right about how complicated, and sometimes counter-intuitive, all these environmental issues can be. I came across this article recently that argued for a more balanced and considered view about such things instead of headline-grabbing apocalyptic visions.

Trouble is, balance and consideration generally takes some mental effort whereas tut-tutting over scare-mongering headlines before carrying on as normal is much easier all round. One example of counter-intuitivity: "“If you want to minimize carbon dioxide in the atmosphere in 2070 you might want to accelerate the burning of coal in India today . . .” Doesn't make immediate sense, but read the article for an explanation.
Don't be put off by the title though, the author is certainly not a climate change denier!
