First off - *Please* don't take this as the start of an election thread, or God Forbid a B****it thread. We had an election thread started on here by someone a couple of elections ago, in much less polarised times, and that didn't end well.
Regardless of which bunch of idiots / the only people who can save our country (delete as per personal preference!) have proposed it, this kind of thing must have the UPVC industry rubbing their hands in glee.

Of course it's not just about glazing, and I can't really criticise loft insulation or, for the most part, more efficient heating systems. The optimist says the glazing side of things may encourage the development of more historically sensitive options - the pessimist says that outside of conservation areas and listed buildings, it could be the final death knell for old windows & doors as they get replaced with cheap plastic cr@p. Not to mention exterior cladding systems ruining the appearance of old buildings, interior insulation systems meaning the interior joinery bites the dust, etc etc......
