Standard UK lion-repellent is a length of string, wrapped once round your ear and then going to the corner of your mouth. Works flawlessly.

Electric damp-proofing works, too. We had a 3kW one in the cellar of the place in North Wales. When it was switched on the air got warmer, the relative humidity dropped, and the walls dried out. There was also an extractor to remove the warm air. I think stopping the rain leaking in under the slates helped a bit, too.

Damn! Gave away the trade secret, which I guess is why I'm not rich! I should have offered to paint your gate-posts with a 100% organic compound, rich in natural energy and charged twice as much!. Off to the pet shop now - which end of a snake do I get the oil from?

3kw? I bet the bank balance dropped quicker than the RH though!

We naively put a dehumidifier (that we already had) in the cellar here when we first moved in, and were worried about the contents of a freezer down there spoiling. We quickly realised that running the dehumdifier was a waste of time, yes it lowers the RH but as soon as it goes off the moisture comes straight back. Most cellars are damp, don't fight it. The freezer has been running down there for 5 years now with no problems at all, in fact the gentle heat it puts out probably helps!

Don't trust him, he's just after the 200 quid and knows nothing about elephants. Mr P on the other hand is the purveyor of Penners Patent Elephant Repelling Device, guaranteed effective and a steal at only 199.99 + postage and packing. I had one on approval and was sceptical but the minute my free trial ended and I sent it back look what happened.....

I'm afraid you've fallen for the oldest scam there is Lady A. Did you not notice that at the same time as the elephants appeared, just after you'd sent the device back, there was some mysteriously ripped elephant-shaped packaging in your bin with a Suffolk postmark on?? :roll:

:lol: Don't tell Mr P, but the scam was mine........... I secretly wanted the free elephants, that's why I signed up for the trial of the device on approval! I had no intention of actually buying it, knew that once I sent it back there would be a mysterious infestation so he could try and sell me the new improved model ( the old one being no longer available ) for 299.99 !

Better safe than sorry! you will be trying to persuade me that wearing the rubber wellingtons isn't necessary to operate the light switch next.

That's the reason for the gun, anyone even vaguely dodgy looking is shot long before they are in sand kicking range.
