The most interesting thing about Charles I is that he was 5 foot 6 inches tall at the beginning of his reign but only 4 foot 8 inches tall at the end!

Sorry Thiambal. It's an old schoolboy howler, along the lines of "eats shoots and leaves".

If you punctuate the sentence correctly, it reads: "Charles I walked and talked. An hour after, his head was cut off."

Sophisticated humour, eh?! (not)

Oh! I get it - mind you, it took some time reading the sentance repeatedly

A sail fell off Fulwell windmill near Sunderland - before restoration work was done in about the early 1980s I suppose it was.

A friend of mine who was involved with that sort of thing checked one of the other sails by jabbing the wood with a pen knife - spent months in plaster while the tendon in his thumb which was sliced through by the pen knife was repaired .......

So beware if testing rotten wood with a pen knife..

I was talking yesterday to the bloke who, about eight years ago, replaced the two sails that didn't fall off the Chesterton mill. (At least he hoped it was his ones that had remained.)
