Edwardian Dress and Dating a Facade

How would you find out when the telephone system was installed in an village? Not that it's important as we've sorted a date range, just interesting.

There are old annual street directories in our local archives (Glamorgan Archives), which i know list occupants. Perhaps they include telephone numbers (I've never checked...).

It never cease to amaze me what can be learned in this forum. Thanks Lime. Our house is part of the Windsor/Earl of Plymouth estate. Sad to see his gate is "distinctive in appearance but structurally weak".....

Yes, I see what is meant.
The W created out of braces does not give much diagonal strength.
Note that gates were made out of split wood which is much stronger than sawn.
I'm pleased you found it useful.
At one time every area/estate had their own style of farm field gate.
local people would have known at a glance who owned the land by the style of gate enclosing it.
