I think I may have suggested the car park on the other side of the river in a letter to the Chronicle though to be honest I think the car park's more attractive as it is. The estimated cost has gone up from £25m to £51m, by the way.
Well, I wonder where Dyson gets his figures from. I got the impression that they were plucked from the ether, in order to place blame on those nasty people (such as the EA) who delayed his plans, as he had hoped the academy would be built by 2008.
It's all smacking of Donald Trump and his golf course. A man used to getting his own way. Therefore anyone standing in his way is bullied by being described as unprogressive etc etc.
I also think that if it is the case, it should be scrapped. No other academy has cost this much - twenty five mill is the usual cost. The Dyson Foundation is putting up twelve and a half - the rest from the public purse.
There will be other sites avaialble, now Bath schools are closing down.
The problem is, it's somehow seen as prestigious. It's actually an unproven concept, an experiment on the education of young people, and it's going to be an eyesore as well.
