back to nem's point; even in paper bags, hydrate is fine. even when wet it is only the outer contents that goes cakey........ i think that was all part and parcel of a previousl misinformation regarding the urban myth of non-hydraulic hydrate being 'carp'
the only difference between putty and hydrate (aside from cost) is the amount of water added to the quicklime during the production process.
