I got through a couple of the 40 quid B&Q electric tile cutters (they really are carp)

lovely floors there , i wish mine looked as good as those.
with regards to dpc's in older houses , sometimes when conditions are right a dpc wont do any harm what so ever to an old house. for instance if the house was on top of a hill then a dpc wouldnt do any harm , but in this case you wouldnt really need one anyway.
if you have proper , working drainage around your house then a dpc might not cause any damage at all.
i wouldnt recommend a dpc in any old house , especially a timber framed house but its not the end of the world if you find one there from a previous owners attempt at modernising the property.

Lovely floor FW, excellent looking job.

But that "window" is bothering me. Is it really an old, blocked-up, wobbly window or it it a trick of the colouring within the plaster?
