If they call and you tell them not to call you again then they should remove you from their listing.

I wish they would - them and BT - I won't be buying anything new from them but they still call despite being asked not to.
I don't think there is a legal way to compel them though.

My personal favourite was the "debt helpline" calls that play a prerecorded message then ask you to press something to speak to an adviser.
I like to put them on speaker, press the number then go silent - see how they like the "silent call". Childish but fun!

Everyone has to offer an opt out, most don't think you'll persue them if they don't follow your request, which is why they are calling in the first place.

My dad does the doddery and confused "why are you calling me" old man routine - really annoying me when I heard him at it, until I realised quite late on what he was doing!

Some great ideas here - I'm almost sad that we don't get many calls! I have some good ideas though, for the next caller from India who asks if someone unpronounceable is here...

Ah - I think I can help there. Dealing with that needs a completely different solution.

Just grunt, allow the phone receiver to fall on the desk and make a thumping noise like a body hitting the ground.

In spite of a long-standing TPS arrangement we still get calls from foreign-sounding people trying to sell us things.
Got one this morning and, as I was in 'waiting for paint to dry' mode I indulged myself by giving him a mini-lecture, to which he listened politely until I put the receiver back on its stand.


Note to self: must disinter the treble recorder that we used to blast at the mouthpiece.
