I was having this conversation with some European colleagues recently - the UK has very strong and specific regional accents, many of which cover quite a small area. Take Manchester and Liverpool for example, 2 cities quite close to each other but with very different accents. Those that had worked in the UK agreed - every country has it's regional variations but they seem to be particularly diverse over here.
Mind you, many British can't tell the difference between a Canadian and an American accent :roll: , which I'm sure irks the Canadians! The same as a Kiwi friend of mine who gets fed up being called an Australian.....
